Skin Detox Routine

To detox, means to remove toxins from the body. Our skin is the largest organ in the body and may pick up dirt and grime, it is possible to remove all the dirt particles that’s clogging pores. These may come from the environment, from diet and  lifestyle habits.                                                                            After skin detoxification, you are able to remove all skin impurities, pollutants, and dead skin cells that renew and then revitalize skin back to how it normally looks .

Facial

  • Firstly, start your skin detox process with facial.
  • A proper facial can clean out pores more thoroughly than a normal skincare routine.
  • Treating yourself to a facial (face massage) might be the most relaxing thing you’ve treat yourself in a long time, meaning an amazing de-stressor while your pores get cleaned.
  • Start off your detox the cleanest way possible with a facial at preference of dermatologist or spa.

Cleanse Twice A Day

  • Cleansing should be a daily habit, no matter your typical skincare routine, a skin detox requires cleansing at morning and night.
  • Do remember of your skin type when choosing cleansers which to use.
  • If you have drier skin, an oil cleanser in the morning and foam cleanser at night will be gentle, and hydrating.
  • If you have oilier, more acne-prone skin, a water-based gel in the morning and at night would be beneficial to get out all of the build-up.

Steam Your Face

  • After cleansing, exposing your skin to steam is crucial to allow the ingredients to penetrate pores and extract as much dirt as possible.
  •  If you don’t have a steam shower, it’s simple, easy and totally free to make your own at home.
  • Bring a pot of water to boil, and then transfer the water to a bowl.
  • Hover your face above the bowl and drape a towel over whole head to concentrate the steam to your facial pores for about 10 minutes.

Make Mud Masks

  • Products with clay or mud draw out the most impurities in the top layers of the skin.
  • Dilute any mask with warm water and leave it on only until it soft, not totally dried.
  • Leave on masks until they’re cracking and our faces can’t move (we’ve all felt the pain when it need to laugh or yawn with a dried mud mask on), but that’s not right.
  • This tactic actually dries out our skin and strips it of essential oils that are vital in keeping the skin hydrated and clean.
  • Apply the mask every other day at the time of your skin detox.

Hydrate your Skin

  • Serums should be used twice daily, in the morning and at night, as they not only hydrate, but also allow the ingredients to sink deeper into your skin & getting better results.
  • Morning routines should follow serums with moisturizer and sunscreen and night routines should be followed by a night moisturizer, cream, or mask.
  • Add in facial oil to your routine at least twice of week for best results, even if you have oily skin, a bacterium doesn’t grow in the right facial oils and does not clog pore.
  • If your skin is dry, dull, or sensitive, add some hydrating/cooling sheet masks as well.

Drink Plenty of Water

We should intake to around 91 ounces. While this is the daily dose to eliminate toxins from body and stay hydrated, very few people actually get this much, and on top of that, they’re drinking dehydrating liquids like coffee, sugary juices etc. Drinking water keeps your body and your skin hydrated, keeps your complexion clear and prevents wrinkles.

Detox through Diet

For a skin detox routine, you may have to be careful with what you eat. For total skin rejuvenation, cut off dairy products, fried foods, and added sugar, which are all pore-clogging and skin-dulling, for your detox. Instead, opt for alkaline-rich fruits and veggies like pears, broccoli, kale, watermelon, and bananas.      Alkaline minerals (like calcium, magnesium, and potassium) keep skin strong (and hair, bones, and teeth). Glow from the inside out with healthy fats like avocados, dry fruits and walnuts.

Dry Brushing

Start a daily dry brushing routine for a minimum of three months. Brushing your body with a natural bristled brush when it is dry, helps improve circulation and stimulates lymphatic system to release toxins. Dry brushing also reduces cellulite and puffiness, improves muscle tone, dull, dead skin cells, and encourages skin cell renewal. Keep the following in mind for your skin detox:

  • Always brush in circular motions toward the heart.
  • Begin the dry brushing at the soles of your feet and do your way up the legs, and then brush your hands and arms.
  • Lastly, brush the buttocks, up the length of your back, and then around to  stomach area, which should be brushed in an anticlockwise direction.
  • After brushing, rub detoxifying oil all over the body and let it sink in for 5 minutes before showering.

Dry brushing is most effective first thing in the morning before you take a shower.
